Curator's statement:
Andee Rudloff's modern depictions of mountains, hills, pastures and clouds are expressively characterized by her use of color and composition.
Her passion for painting, and the majestic flow of nature, are evident in the bold and unconstrained choice of bright colors. Rudloff's paintings carry the spirit of the place where she paints, also reminding us of a strong sense of vitality; this is especially true of her pictures depicting clouds bursting, prismatic skies and channels of water.
The artist explains, "When creating the works for this exhibition, I was influenced by the feeling of flight and the perplexity of life. As I fly in an aircraft, I am constantly in search of the horizon line. As I go through life, I am also searching for the "horizon line," as I deal with things that are out of my control. In this series of works, I investigate my emotions, feelings and happenings within each landscape while allowing the unpredictability of life to play a role."
In recent years, Rudloff has visited places all over the US and far western China. She has had solo and group exhibitions and participated in several cultural and academic exchanges. Her work can be found in corporate collections, private collections as well as exhibitions throughout the US, Great Britain and Japan.
She also serves as the Curator of the well-known Arts at the Airport program at Nashville International Airport. Rudloff decisively leads the program while ushering through exciting changes coming with the new multi-million dollar terminal renovation.
Opening reception Thursday, March 22nd from 5-7pm
Exhibition runs through April 13th, 2007.
