Andee will be part of Connect 12, curated and created by Ben Vitualla at Dangenart Gallery, September 1, 2007 to September 30, 2007. Other artists in Connect 12 are Eric Denton, Jimi Benedict, Erika Johnson, Daniel Lai, Samantha Callahan, Sean Jewett, Rick Bradley, Alesandra Bellos, Ben Vitualla, Tiffany Denton and Chris Hill. The exhibition will be part of the First Saturday event in September.
Dangenart Gallery is located on the second floor in The Arcade in downtown Nashville, TN. The gallery is a by-artist-for-artist organization dedicated to emerging artists. It was founded in 2005, as an alternative to the mainstream fine art galleries and to provide emerging artists with exhibition opportunities.

Campus for a Cure

Adventures Inside Campus for a Cure is a new non-profit created by author Chuck Beard to organize a group of artists, musicians and supporters to help in finding a cure for cancer. We also hope to support and provide assistance to families dealing with cancer. We realize we can't do it alone, and neither can anyone else, so we will make efforts to support other cancer organizations researching for a cure.

Tomato Art Fest-Aug.11

The Tomato Art Fest in East Nashville is happening on Saturday, August 11th!!! The heart of the Tomato Art Fest will once again be Art & Invention Gallery, with oodles of art for your enjoyment.
Andee will also be curating the Alley Gallery again, Nashville's only Drive-Thru Gallery. Artists in the Alley Gallery include Britt Stadig, Scott Thom, JK Lee, Aaron Grayum, Andee Rudloff and a host of other collaborators. Please make sure to Drive-Thru!

3-D CD

"Recycled art" is on the agenda Monday, June 25th with Andee and the students at ArtVentures at the Discovery Center in Murfreesboro, TN. In "3-D CD," Andee hopes that the students will enjoy turning old, discarded CDs into something imaginative and possibly functional.

Discovery Center is an interactive museum and environmental center created for the children and families of Middle Tennessee and is dedicated to promoting excellence in education through hands-on exhibits and programs. Our aim is that each child, teen and adult who visits will grow in knowledge, competence and appreciation for themselves, their families, their community and their environment.

Act Like a GRRRL!

Andee facilitated a collaborative painting project with the teen artists involved in "Act Like a GRRRL." The murals will be displayed during the final performances on June 28th and June 29th.

"Act Like a GRRRL is all about teenage girls finding their voices -- through writing, dancing, performance. This year, I want to add a visual art component... so, I was wondering if Andee would come and talk to them about what she does and then maybe lead them through an exercise where they get to paint a little -- finding their "voice" on the canvas."

Art at the Relay for Life

Andee will have art for sale at two booths during the Relay for Life in Bowling Green, KY, June 8th and 9th. The Relay for Life will begin at 5:00pm on Friday, June 8th. Andee art will be available at the Bowling Green Christian Church booth and the Campus for a Cure booth. All money from the sales of art will go to the American Cancer Society (ACS).
Andee art will include small paintings on wood, Hot Dogs-Dogs in PJs for $20 each and a large Hot Dog cut-out for FREE photos (pictured above) at the Bowling Green Christian Church booth. Andee's brother, sister-in-law, nephew and niece attend the church.
Andee will have posters, t-shirts, and free swag at the Campus for a Cure booth. This booth is to support ACS through a new non-profit, Adventures Inside a Campus for a Cure. Find out more about this artist-supported non-profit at: www.campusforacure.org

The mission of P.L.E.A.S.E.S. is for every young female between the ages of 10-19 to have the opportunity for life-building growth. This program helps young females and enables them to grow into being positive independent women.

Started by Aretha Howard in 1996, Howard had a dream to start a non-profit organization helping the girls of today live for tomorrow. Howard, a young mother at fourteen, understands the pressures and struggles on young women today.

P.L.E.A.S.E.S. is hosting an art event and reception in support of their programming and summer camp Friday, June 1st.

Relay for Life-June 8th/9th

I will be participating in the Relay for Life in south central Kentucky with my family on June 8th and 9th.
As I am walking in support of my mom, Rita Rudloff, who will be receiving treatment for brain lymphoma in Portland, OR, June 8th. My sister Suzie will be with my mom during treatment. My mom is required to travel to Portland, OR, once a month for treatment. These trips and the treatment are VERY expensive...and there are so many people making the very same trip. Every family needs the support...please consider this.

The community wide American Cancer Relay for Life will be held at the Bowling Green High School football field June 8-9, 5:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m. Relay For Life represents our hope that those lost to cancer will not be forgotten, those battling cancer will be supported, and that one day cancer will be eliminated.

Come out and cheer us on as we raise money for the American Cancer Society and make strides towards finding a cure.

Cheekwood announces Summer designs

Cheekwood announces designs for summer exhibition

Cheekwood Botanical Garden & Museum of Art recently selected ten designs for its seventh annual 2007 summer exhibition: "Once Upon a Garden.''

Opening May 26 and running through September 9, "Once Upon a Garden'' focuses on the magical world of classic children's stories with "storybook settings" in the landscape at Cheekwood.

"The originality and adventurous spirit of this year's designs are amazing," said Jack Becker, president/CEO of Cheekwood. "Our goal is for families to come to Cheekwood to enjoy themselves through discovery and exploration."

Previous exhibitions have included Playhouses and Forts, Terrific Treehouses, and most recently, Birdhouse Bonanza. This year's designers include:

-Luke Tidwell and Barclay Dwight of Nashville for "Hansel and Gretel,'' a contemporary interpretation of the candy house the witch used to lure Hansel and Gretel into danger.

Children will be able to slide the panels and create the image and house of their desires.

-The owners of the Shops at the Loveless, Shimai Pottery, Curious Heart Emporium, Trace Bikes and Ruthie Cherry Fine Art in Nashville, for "Alice in Wonderland,'' a wonderland for a garden tea party and croquet.

-Annie Freeman, Elizabeth Garner, Ron Ames, Elder Jones, Michelle Webber, Alan Le Quire, Jammie Williams, Elaine Wood, Mervyn Enguidanos, Bob Scarlatta, and Andee Rudloff of Nashville for "The Frog Prince,'' a dazzling giant crown that children can enter and read the magical story of transformation that comes from confronting our fears and fulfilling our promises.

-Brian Parker and Scott Gubala of Nashville for "Wind in the Willows,'' featuring "pop-up book" inspired scenes gathered from moments in Kenneth Grahame's enchanting tale.

-Sandy Zeigler of Nashville for "Goldilocks and the Three Bears,'' a fantasy for children, a garden folly for adults.

-Adrienne Outlaw, Alicia Beach, Sher Fick, Lisa Bachman, Matthew Rogers, Amanda Crawford, Selena Long and Jessica Cantrell of Nashville for "Peter Rabbit,'' inviting children of all ages to experience Peter's fantastical journey by exploring above ground, child-size vegetable garden filled with colorful, woven-wire broccoli, carrots, asparagus and more.

-Babs Freeman, Harriet McHenry, and Susan Ward for "Jack and the Beanstalk,'' where a castle is suspended in the tree with a beanstalk going from Jack's House to the castle and children will be able to plant their own "magic beans" in Jack's house.

-Dryden Abernathy Architecture Design (DA|AD) including Nick Dryden, John Abernathy, James Bagwell, Kim Martin, Brad Northcutt, Crispin Mathias-Fisher and Jacklyn Abernathy for "The Secret Garden,'' an assemblage of garden delights offering a different perspective of what can be perceived as a garden.

-Gresham Smith and Partners: Healthcare Studio Team: Beryl Alder, Vanessa Paz, Bryan Tuttle, David Zegley, Adam Smith, Jerry Culp, Lara Eley and Aron Thompson for "Swiss Family Robinson,'' a conceptual tree house with platforms that represent climactic events in the book.

-Susan Jane Hall, Steve Drake, and Luke Tidwell of Nashville for "Anansi,'' depicting Anansi, a magical spider character from African mythology, as he presents the moon to Nyame, the sky God.

All juried exhibitions and competitions at Dangenart Gallery are judged by a panel that consists of at least three jurors. Each panel is led by curating director Daniel Lai. Jurors are selected by Lai based on the former's curatorial visions that emphasize on aesthetic merit and originality and are devoid of personal taste.

Dovie's makes our day

Yesterday, my dad hurt his back. A couple of his clients thought they would cheer him up by bringing him the best burgers in Kentucky...fresh DOVIE's...and a T-shirt to boot! Although I am vegetarian, I can say from my younger years that this is the best burger in America. My dad shared the bag-o-burgers with me and others...I shared my burgers with a friend who has spent time on a Montana ranch, and she said...they were really ggrrrreat!

Dovie's located in Tompkinsville, Kentucky has welcomed people inside for over 50 years. The Moore family founded Dovie's in 1940 and keeps the restaurant true to it's history with a menu that has the original Dovie's burger and a few other tasty surprises. At Home On Tour/The Dinner Party updates

In 2001, Andee worked with Judy Chicago for a semester on a major installation called "At Home: A Kentucky Project with Judy Chicago and Donald Woodman" (her husband). Following the close of the exhibition, John Oakes and Andee created a traveling exhibition called the At Home On Tour which is currently (Spring 2007) at Penn State University.

AAAE Arts at the Airport Conference

Andee will be attending the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Arts at the Airport conference in Seattle, WA, next week. The conference will cover a multitude of Public Art topics. The group will also tour the airport in Vancouver, BC, to study ideas concerning the use of glass and suspended sculpture.

Patrick Fleming remembered

Last autumn, I lost my artist soulmate, Patrick. At his Memorial in NYC we gathered at his home, shared stories, with blurry eyes - we all wished we were dreaming and would wake up to see his bright, shining smile. As the sun came down on the day, we all gathered by the river...by him...to thank him for being part of our lives. Each of us had a fresh rose to float down the windy river...and the river and the wind blew them right back to us...and he let us know he was right there, he was there that day. Finally, we lit a small urn ablaze that was full of messages and wishes for Patrick and it soared and sparked. So many tears...so so so many tears.

I will miss him.
